BORON
Boron affects the absorption of other nutrients. It also affects the germination of the pollen tube once the pollen grains land on the stigma. Without germination, the seeds are not fertilized and fruits abort.
Say it (B) Element 5, atomic weight 10.811. Hard yellow crystals or brown
amorphous powder, used as a
neutron absorber in nuclear chemistry and as a hardener in
alloys .
Name: boron Symbol: B Atomic number: 5 Atomic weight: 10.811 (7) g m r Group in periodic table: 13 Group name: Period in periodic table: 2 Block in periodic table: p-block CAS registry ID: 7440-42-8Boron is a Group 13 element. Boron has properties which are borderline between metals and non-metals. It is a semiconductor rather than a metallic conductor. Chemically it is closer to silicon than to aluminium, gallium, indium, and thallium.Crystalline boron is inert chemically and is resistant to attack by boiling HF or HCl. When finely divided it is attacked slowly by hot concentrated nitric acid.
