Quasar
Compact extragalactic objects at extreme distance which are highly luminous. They are thought to be active galactic nuclei. The name is made from quasi-stellar radio source. A quasar is very similar to a QSO (quasi-stellar object) but it gives out radio waves as well. Thousands of these objects have been observed, all at extreme distances. This has led many astronomers to think that they may be young galaxies. They are just one type of the many active galaxies now visible to us.
Quasi-stellar astronomical object, often a radio source; all quasars have large red shifts; they          have small optical diameter, but may have large radio diameter.
A faint blue, star-like object commonly considered to be extremely distant, probably an unusual nucleus of a galaxy. It has a tendency to
flare .
